Stuck in a Load / Unload loop

I have finally finished assembling the printer. All the self test and calibration routines worked first time with no issues. However, when I try and print one of the test pieces from the SD card, the printer gets stuck in a loop. It asks to load the filament, which I do and then confirm. It then asks me to unload. I know the print head / feed is working as it worked perfectly during the calibration process. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Your filament sensor is misbehaving. You need to redo that part and make sure it’s working correctly. You can confirm this by temporarily disabling it from the menu in the lcd.

Hmmm... Firstly, check the sensor cable. Its a common error to put the filament sensor into the wrong row of pins and there are reports describing exactly this consequence.

Only then go down in the menu to switch off the filament IR sensor. If this solves the issue and you can manually load and unload filament by the respective commands in the menu, there´s the culprit. Try loosening the screw holding the cap above the IR sensor one or two turns and see if the problem persists.

For other IR sensor problems, see here.

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…

Thanks for all your help. I must have disturbed the cable at the PCB end when arranging the cables to close door. I had placed it into the correct (lower slot) but it obviously wasn't seated properly. A little bit of sensible cable management has solved the problem.
