Stuck at 3. X-axis assembly Step 9

Greetings all,

I am currently stuck at the step mentioned in the title: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/3-x-axis-assembly_167854#168224

I tried inserting the rod into the plastic part, but it is now straight up stuck, does not move an inch anymore, neither in or out. What are my options?

Best Regards

Not able to see your link - but I'm guessing you are on step 7 in the physical assembly manual - inserting the smooth rods that now have the linear bearings on them into the two ends of the X carriage.

Were you able to get them seated all the way in (viewing thru the inspection hole?).  If not, proceed with tapping the end of the rod gently until it seats home.  At that point, when all rods are seated, you are done with the step.

Well, thats the issue. The rod is stuck halfway in and does not move at all, no matter the force (Tried pulling it out using my steel bed frame as counter weight). I have a feeling that the opening is just a tad too small, even the first inches took a lot of force

@mydayyy

Once you get the printer up and running, be sure to reprint that piece that you broke so that you can replace it. I had the same issue when installing mine, the tolerance was extremely close but necessary for quality prints.

I didn't realize that the rods weren't fully seated until I started to slide the assembly onto the steppers, I didn't notice the inspection holes until this time and was able to put my weight onto the assembly and both rods fully seated. I'm glad I didn't break anything....

Mine were also stuck once inserted a few millimeters. I solved it with a Hammer, a piece of cloth and some machine oil dripped into the opening where you can see if the rod is inserted completely. Luckily my parts didn't break in the process 😏
