Stringing Since First Print
Using PLA, I've tried 3 different spools from two different manufacturers, all in different colors.
I have been printing temp towers to try and get the stringing under control, to no avail.
I have tried a few different retraction settings, even some extreme ones (I don't remember exact settings).
Please see images. Even 180C is showing some stringing, and I am under the impression I should be able to print at 200-215C without significant issues.
I am not sure what to do, this is my first 3D printer. Temperature/humidity of printing environment included in pics.
Included pic of my extruder - do these wires need adjusted? I am thinking yes, but again, newbie.
That looks like wet filament. Try drying it (look up threads here) and come back if problems persist.
Cheerio,

That was my thinking, but using 3 different brand new filaments led me to believe that may not be the case. I'll give drying it out a go. Thanks!
RE: Stringing Since First Print
Any recommendations for a filament dryer?
Thanks,
Jim

I am using one from PrintDry for some time now and since they got new models out you might get the old one for a good price...
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!
Many of us use food dehydrators - cheap kitchen apparatus lightly modified to hold spools of filament - you can make workshop snacks as a sideline.
You have a choice of cutting out the centre of the food trays or printing a new extra-deep filament-drying tray.

I wonder if I can make snacks in the printDry…

All,
Thanks for your help on this. I bought a dryer. Initially the spool was at 57%, I dried the spool to 39% and NO STRINGS! You all are awesome!!
Thanks again!
Jim

There are food dehydrators you can get that don't needed any modification and have room enough for several 1kg spools. I have one with shelves that slide in/out from the front. Just remove all the shelves (or all but one) and you have a nice large space for spools.
Keep drying.

What diem said. And crank up the temp (when drying). Do not mess with retraction parameters!!

Apologies, I started a reply which hasn't posted but reposted the original in error.
