Strange noise when printing - MK3S+

Hi guys..  I'm in the need of some troubleshooting help please...  I'm getting a strange vibrating noise when printing after my newly assembled MK3S+.  I double checked the belts and they seem fine, but if you take a look at the video below, at the 8 second and 54 second marks (as well as the rest of the video) you can hear the vibration, which I have no clue where is it coming from..

The printer is in Stealth Mode and is sitting under a set of anti-vibrating feet (which help). The noise is generated with/without these feet, printing from the SD or from Octoprint, in Stealth or regular printing modes...

Thanks for your upcoming suggestions on how to troubleshoot this...

Carlos

Try pressing on the LCD or LCD case, see if that helps. If the LCD touches the case, it can rattle quite loud. Sometimes going in and bending the LCD pins a bit can give enough spacing the rattle is gone; adding foam tape between the LCD and case also works.  Another source of rattle is the metal sheet against the two pins in the heat bed; and there are many things under the print sheet that will rattle if loose.

Poke around with your finger until you find the culprit. Just don't poke real hard on the bed or extruder while printing - you can cause a 'crash' and ruin the print.

thanks... it doesn't seem to be the lcd case nor did I find anything conclusive by pressing...  the funny thing is that the prints come out great...  but the sound is intolerable.. I have a mk2s which is a lot quieter at this moment...

any other pointers??  best regards,

carlos

In settings, select the STEALTH mode .. it generally quiets the printer down. Enable NORMAL when troubleshooting though -some diagnostic info isn't available in Stealth.

Wait - you are in stealth ... lol ... so ignore what I just said. No other options then. Except a few have tried large concrete pavers and found them to help.

What resonance elimination approaches have you employed?

My MK3s, after some effort, is nearly silent.  The stock printer on stock feet, on a standard table is going to resonate wildly - and most of the noise will be coming from the amplification the table creates.

Isolate your printer from the thing you have it sitting on - and the noise will be greatly abated.

Squash Ball feet mods (download, print and buy two-dot squash balls).

Heavy marble plate under the printer - reduces transmission of resonance

If you are printing in an enclosure - the enclosure will increase the noise - unless you put squash ball feet under the enclosure too.

From there it is replacement of stock parts to get really quiet.

Moons stepper drop in upgrade for X and Y (way quieter motors)

Drylins instead of little loose ball bearing tubes.  This is a trade-off.

Isolate the Y motor from the back frame (stock mount leaves it touching the back frame, which creates a buzz)

Thanks for your pointers.. today I'm going to try and get a concrete slab....  in the video you can perhaps see 2 of the 4 printer isolation feet I got from thingiverse ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1891939 ) that worked wonders on my mk2s that I had on the same enclosure...

Thanks for the other pointers too....  I'll specially check out the last one regarding isolating the Y motor... will keep you posted...

Best regards,

Carlos
