Spring stuck on a busted screw

I have a stripped out nut stuck on the screw for the extruder idler. It doesn't look like there's a spare spring in the box. I've tried heating the screw and nut to get it off, no luck.

What's the best move here? Should I be asking for a new part, or can I use any old spring of a matching size from a hardware store?

here's the screw

RE: Spring stuck on a busted screw

Hacksaw the nut on both sides and break the nut off the last little bit, with pliers

or hacksaw the the screw in half, and recover the spring,

or break the screw
