Self-test error X-axis length - tried everything!

hi

So Ive built my MK3, and it wont pass the x axis length test.

Could someone help me understand what exactly it is looking for? Which part of the extruder housing has to hit what exactly?

If im facing the extruder, with the bed in front of me, the extruder can slide happily to the left (below the PRUSA logo) - no cables touch the metal frame. The first and last thing to make contact is the circular holder of the z axis rod with the extruder.

If I slide it all the way to the right, the first thing to make contact is the PINDA sensor cable, which bumps the metal frame. I cant believe its that - there is no where else for it to go.

Ive moved the cable ties around holding the cable bundle (so they point down) - ive cut them off in case that was it - Ive even done a little magic dance to see if that would help. Im out of ideas!

Can it fail because of an obstruction in either direction or just one direction? Can I get a clue about which side is preventing it from working from the test? Could it be something else that isnt an obstruction?

Ive added 3 pictures - rear right, rear left

,

and

Any help at all gratefully received!

best wishes

Andrew

Hi Andrew

Looks like your Pinda cable is in the wrong place. It should be going through the hole in the backplate with the rest of the wires. It is that which is limiting your carriage travel and causing the failure.

https://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/5.+E-axis+assembly/510?lang=en Step 35 and onward. Note all cables except the hotend heater and thermistor have to go through the hole in the backplate, or you get exactly what you have.

Hope that helps,
