There isn't much you can screw up swapping the motors.

Just remove the 4 screws holding the motors to the motor mounts and screw the motors with leadscrews out of the x-axis assembly. 

Maybe put a ziptie or piece of rope around the x-axis assembly and the frame to make sure it can't drop on the bed.

Be very careful when screwing the lead screws back in.  It VERY easy to cross thread them and damage the nuts.  They also aren't a common size so if you do mess up you will likely have to get replacements from Prusa.

Personally I'd remove them from the x axis printed parts so that they can move freely and then once back on and spinning properly screw them back in.

I think personally its safer to carefully remove the x axis from  both z motors before swapping, unscrew both at the same time after removing the retaining brackets at the top, lay the carriage somewhere safe while swapping, dont lay it on the nozzle, or stretch the cables.

Basically the reverse of installation.

Then carefully remount the x axis, I find it best to reverse each lead screw till it clicks into place, then spin both at the same time, no risk of damage to the threads that way.

I don't get it.  What did you do?  CUt the cables?

Sounds like the got the left and right z axis motors swapped around and as they have different length of wires one doesn’t reach the board.

That is what I figured - swapping the screws wont help at all.  The wires either work, or the wires don't work.  <shakes head>

If he mixed up the left and right hand z motors, swapping them will fix it ofcourse.

And as the leadscrews are fixed to the motors they have to be unscrewed from the x-asis.

Not really - all you have to do is unscrew the black inserts and unscrew those.  The motors will pull out clean after that.

I have to admit that I reassembled a mini after repair and wrapped the X axis cable around something and it broke the wires off the stepper motor. I had to replace the motor.  Things happen do not be hard on yourself.
