Question About Securing The Extruder Assembly To The Two X-Axis Bearings On The Top Smooth Rod

I am assembling my MK3S+ and am currently working on Step 5, the E-axis.  I am up to Step 45, which is the point where the extruder assembly is to be mounted to the two X-axis bearings on the top smooth rod.  I've noticed that the assembly guide is inconsistent with respect to the placement of these two bearings when the zip ties are tightened down around them.  Should they be placed so that they are pressed right next to eachother as shown on Step 45, or should they be spaced a few mm apart as shown in Steps 47 and 48, to take up the full width of the slot in the extruder mount?  The guide shows it both ways. For example, when you reach Step 53, it shows them pressed up next to eachother again.  I presume it can be done either way?  Does it matter?  Is one way better than the other?

Thanks for your advice!

Answering my own question here -- despite the ambiguity in the photos, it seems that the correct practice is to mount them flush with eachother.   It is shown that way consistently in the printed manual, but not in the online manual.
