Prusa MK3S squeaking loudly
I have a very loud intermittent squeak in my Prusa MK3S. It's hard to tell if it's from x or y axis, but what did I assemble incorrectly? Do I have a bad bearing, is a belt too tight?
RE: Prusa MK3S squeaking loudly
I put a bit of the grease that came with the machine onto the rods, moved the axes to spread it, and the noise is gone. Should not have listened to the manual when it said not to lube the bearings. Otherwise am really enjoying this printer.

At your convenience, remove your bearings and pack them with grease properly. Grease on the rods is no substitute. Light oil is actually better for testing.
I keep my rods clean - and dry. I don't want debris sticking to them and entering the bearings.
RE: Prusa MK3S squeaking loudly
I will be dismantling and packing the bearings later this week. But the noise started up again and on further investigation, it seems I had assembled the gear a hair to close to the motor on the Y axis, so it would intermittently rub, causing the squeak. Moved it 1mm further away, no squeak.

Added to my checklist. Thanks for reporting!

Any chance you'd share that checklist? I am at the six month mark and ready for any regular maintenance advice...
