Print won't stay stuck to bed

I just received my new MK3 with the double sided powder coated PEI bed. I've been printing parts using the grey PLA filament that came with the printer. I carefully wipe the bed with an alcohol wipe before printing. What is happening is that in most cases, the part is breaking free of the bed during the print, thus ruining it. I have tried adjusting the bed temperature with no luck. I was excited to get my first Prusa, but now I'm seeing that it is as prone to adhesion issues as any other printer.

Wash it with Dawn dish washing soap and rinse good and don't touch it with you fingers in the print area, then a quick wipe with IPA and you should be fine. Use Chris's PLA profile. That's what worked for me. Also check your live Z to make sure it is right.

Indeed!

The dish soap trick suggested above is magic. It happened to me on like the 2nd or 3rd day of printing and every day new posts about prints that stop sticking comes up, but if you wash the plate with dish soap and don't touch it and you will be back on track.

I almost don't wonder if there is something because the printers are new that after a few hours some contaminant or something gets on the bed from the normal extrusion of the first prints which causes this because it seems very common....

Don't panic and and no need to adjust other things until you try the dish soap trick and make sure your live z is tight and you will be on track.

Here was the one I encountered on 3rd day.

I will try the washing technique and see what happens. As for live Z, it's hard to determine the best value unless I make a print that is larger and will cover the bed so that I have time to adjust it. The part I'm trying to print has a small footprint. Funny, but the vase on the SD card printed well last week and it was one of the first things I printed. Perhaps it is just a burn-in problem. I tried to up the bed temperature 5 degrees and I experienced the corners lifting also. I took a chance last night and reprinted my part before leaving work. Bad decision.

Re: Print won't stay stuck to bed

Go to the life z adjust thread in this subheading and read the first four pages. very good info and pictures. Get the gcode the v6 one and put it on a flashcard and in your printer. Print it and use it to get the good live z value and then go for it. do this before your print. the v6 one should stick the live z so you can remove it from the print surface and go to your print.

If it has a small footprint use a brim in either Prusa Control or Slic3r PE it is a click box on the plater tab and see if that helps. You will have to remove the brim from the completed print but it helps with small footprints.

good luck!

Re: Print won't stay stuck to bed

I had the same issue on my first print ,marvin. On the second print I used the enclosed glue stick and put an even film on the powder coated sheet. I've had no issues since. Use mild dishwashing soap and warm water to wash the glue off after printing.
