Print just stops mid-print - no indication - but I can continue - is there a log I can check?

Hi Guys

Long time Prusa MK3s user - pretty knowledgeable - after about 4 years of using them - I absolutely love these printers - I have (3) mk3s printers and have had 100s of successful prints and perform routine maintenance - I came across an issue where my 12hr print stopped at hour 3 with no indication. I am using the same gcode on the SD i have been using for the past 2 years. So I am suspect something hardware is failing but not sure what. Fans are working, motors are moving, rods are smooth and there isnt any bearing noise.

I woke up this morning to my printer beeping as if it was looking to have a filament change - asking me to press the button to pre-heat the nozzle as it must have been sitting for awhile. I press the button the temps reach the desired temp - it asks me to press the button to unload the filament and then reload and it starts printing again. The drive gear sucked it in no problem and there wasn't any noise.  I leave for an appt and come back and at 50% left / hour 6 remaining - same thing is happening. I repeat the same as above and it is printing again. I am not sure if there was a filament snag - as the filament is loose on the roll - or heat-creep - as there isn't any  indication. Is there a way to check a log to see what happened? At the time of this post - it is printing and the temps are stable - 210 nozzle and 60 bed. If anyone has see this before or may have an idea I'd appreciate your input. Other than sitting here and waiting to see what happens - I am at a loss.

Thanks

SOLVED - USER ERROR - I was using a saved project that had an M600 (change color) - sometimes I delete a model and insert a new one - however with this project I did not realize the color change was in the profile when slicing. I removed this and all works again. The red herring for me was the color code in the slicer bar on the right for the layers - it was a solid orange - I am used to seeing the color change to a darker orange / red when using a layer / color change so I completely missed it. Thanks to all who replied.

Your filament sensor may need attention; try disabling it temporarily to see if the problem goes away...

Cheerio,

This worked for me a couple times.  If it does not, do a disassembly and reassembly.

Thank you guys - I disabled the sensor and all seems to work with the past couple of prints. I will follow this next to identify next steps:

If you have a MK3s why would you follow the troubleshooting steps for the MK3 NON s printer ?  The filament sensor is the primary difference between the 2.

RE:

So still troubleshooting - i started a print and left and came back and it was prompting to change the filament - I need to stay and watch what is happening - i don't recall adding any filament changes in the slicer - but I just noticed I am using a (modified) profile - perhaps on one of my last prints where I do have a filament change - I saved the settings to the profile and when printing something new - I did not recognize the profile selected - still investigating.  - I will attempt to print again -  with the default profile and see what happens.

Spoke too soon - the only thing that was modified was the temps - ugh

edited - Ah Ha - perhaps - I looked closer on the slider in the preview and noticed a mark at a certain layer - normally when this happens - the color changes to a darker orange red - I think I might have found it.
