print just sliding around
hi chaps and any ladies. I am having real problems here. I have sorted out the first line and that looks ok. but when I go to print an object. the filament is sliding around all over the place. I have cleaned the print bed, but nothing I can think off stops the filament sliding around. I am using S3D, I have reduced the print speed for the 1st layer is there anything else I can do. what speeds are you all using. is there anyway of improving the stick of the steel bed which is very smooth, maybe Prusa should of added some texture to the bed to help filament stick.
what is the answer here. thanks, wendy
Re: print just sliding around
That sounds like an adhesion problem. You didn't mention what filament you're using, but I'd suggest sticking with PLA until you get things figured out.
Until you get the 1st layer right, nothing else is going to work, so focus on getting this part figured out and you should be in business.

Re: print just sliding around
Hey Wendy, can you maybe post a pic of some first layer?

Re: print just sliding around
I had the same issues until the sheet broke in.
In addition to the stuff above:
Use a larger brim setting.
Use glue-stick.
I had been expecting this surface to stick like mirror, PEI sheets, blue tape, or other surfaces that I had experience with. It took about 3 days of printing for things to significantly improve. Now Im solid.
I reduced my brims back down to the defaults in Slicer PE, and its still printing like a champ.
