PETG print stuck
I haven't done any print for a long time, due to health problems. I'm better now so I thought I would print a couple of things. Sadly I had forgotten the basics, so I printed with PETG on the smooth PEI sheet, and now it is stuck. I should have wiped it down with Windex of course, but I didn't. The print failed anyway, but I can't get it off. Is there any solvent that'll do the job? or should I use a heat gun? I hesitate to use any sharp tools for fear of ruining the PEI sheet
Any help would be much appreciated
Kurt
RE: PETG print stuck
I hope someone can help you with this as from what I've read online it is a nightmare to separate without damaging the PEI covering on the sheet. Some suggestions I've read include:
1) Putting it in a freezer for several hours then flexing the steel sheet.
2) Heating the bed up to around 100°C and again flexing it.
3) Slowly working around the join with a very sharp blade like a scalpel.
The lesson here really is always use a release agent with PETG on PEI... Or use a satin or textured plate. Sorry I can't be of more help!

@3Delight
Thanks for trying to help. The freezer trick sadly didn't help. Trying other ways I managed to ruin the coating, so it's for the bin. Fortunately, I've got a textured build plate too.

RE: PETG print stuck
try dribbling Isopropyl Alcohol, on the build plate, around the model, let it sit a while, then re try removing the model.

RE: PETG print stuck
Might be a little late to the party, but I have found that heating the build plate to 90 - 100 C softens it up and will usually allow the part to release. I had this issue early on and do not like to print PETG on PEI after that. I always use the textured plate now.

@Joan
Sorry, that didn't quit do it either
@Dante
3Delight mentioned that above, didn't work. Maybe I should leave it to stew for a little longer.
Anyway, as I said earlier, I managed to ruin the PEI plate along the way, but I tested your suggestions nonetheless hoping it might be of use to somebody else.
Thank you for your efforts.
Cheers
