Odd Shift at the top of the print

Hi Guys - has anyone seen anything like this before? (attached pic) - I am wondering if this happened because I used and old version of Prusa Slicer with a newer firmware on my MK3. I will try this again using the latest Prusa Slicer but wanted to see if anyone encountered anything like this.

This was an 8hr draft print 30mm. At the very end of the print (at the top) - it looks like it shifted to the right and started to create a cantilever edge while on the other side it was indented. - it did not display like this in the model software or the slicer.

If you have any ideas, please let me know - I am going to start the print again with the latest slicer and see what happens.

thanks

RE: Odd Shift at the top of the print

That looks like a layer shift to me.

And older version of PC shouldn't make a difference.

Have a look at this: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/layer-shifting_2020

Still happening.

Checked everything as per document - trying to work with support to get a replacement - I have 2 other Prusa MK3s that work just fine and have been used 1000x more than this one. There is something wrong with the assembly they did and I would like a replacement.

That's a bit extreme

If your car needs an oil change do you sue for a replacement? How about if you need to roll down the window?   That's the kind of thing you have here.  Check for whatever is causing the shift - this is normal print troubleshooting 101.

Layer shifts like that can be caused by something impeding smooth movement along the axis where the shift is occuring.  Since the picture is not bedded, hard to tell if you have an adjustment to make on X or Y.  Places to check first - over-tightened X carriage back.  Loosen those screws a little bit - they should not be tight at all.  On Y, it gets trickier - any impediment to smooth motion can cause that symptom.  The bearing clips which screw onto the platform under the heat bed need to be less tight is the most likely case if the shift is on Y axis.  Misplaced zip tie heads can also cause some drag.

What?!

Perhaps I left out the fact that this is a brand new printer - just got it and it does not function like the other two I have had for years. So they built it - I paid over 1K and now I need to fix their mistake? Hello no. I sell products, if they don't work right or are defective, I replace them plain and simple at no cost to the customer.

I am running through one more calibration and benchy. Support offered to send me a return label and a refund.

There you go then

It's a turn of a screw - or a ship it back to prussia decision.  I see you chose.  Good to you.

Would you believe it?!?

Thanks for your advice - man I was just so heated - you know how it is - you try everything, you have done everything the same way millions of times and it always works AND then all of a sudden things dont work the same way - and you are like - WHAT?!?! - all the adjustments, the models, etc - BUT - so in a last ditch effort - I decided to try the spring steel sheet from my other prusa printer - I noticed that the one that I was using, was sort of warped when  - now I am not sure if this was the culprit (red herring)  - but I recalibrated everything, printed a buddy dog as per the help document and it was perfect!?!!?  - so now I need to print one of my larger prints - 10-12hr- I am hoping it is not something that happens when the Z gets higher. Just did not make any sense to me. I am glad prusa is willing to help - its just one of those things where everyone is so busy and you just want it to work and hoping for a quick fix. Thanks for your advice - I will update after I get the larger print done - stay well.
