Newbie 1st layer calibration

I'm a newbie to 3d printing and this is my first printer, I'm excited. I'm all setup, everything seems to be working. I've watched the calibration video a few times and run the calibration a few times adjusting the nozzle downward. All initial set up passes and no errors. However the line that gets drawn at the front is more squished than the zig zag line. And the start of the zig zag line, only 30-40mm, is a little more squished too. The rest of the line is thin but sticks well.
I'm assuming this is not correct, but wanted to check and see if this is an issue and what to do. It's weird that only the front line and start of the zig zag is squished.
Thanks

Re: Newbie 1st layer calibration

I’m pretty new as well, but do yourself a favor and use the files from this other forum thread at https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting-f62/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html

The calibration square is much much easier to figure out. I was printing with the live z way too high and didn’t realize it until I tried this square. The square should come out as a smooth fully formed solid piece. If you see stringing or it falls apart at all you are too high.

Hello mate,

IMHO, .... that first line on the front is just a big blob of filament, squiched out to clean the nozzle, I think.
Anyway, don't give too much attention to it.
It is the zigzag-line that has to stick and most important the quare that has to be fine.

What i do:
I adjust livelevel untill I can GENTLY rub the zigzag with a fingertip without it getting loose, then further inspect to get a square with slightly squiched lines, without tearing or errors.

Use Jeff jordan's " Life adjust My way", use the version6.1 files at the bottom of the first page. as referred in the second post!

Thanks all, I played with that and think I'm good now.
Well try my first print I've the next couple of days.

After a print is done, shouldn't the extruder move back to a higher position in case it needs cleaning? Or is that a manual thing?
