Newb getting intermittent excessive material
Total newb here, this is my first 3d printer. I finished building my i3 MK3S+ kit and have printed a few demo parts successfully.
Now trying my first bigger part (~3cu in) and am intermittently getting layers where the wall has extra material oozing beyond where it should be.
Any thoughts on what the issue might be?
Additional info: I've tried 4 prints of this part now and all 4 have the issue in varying degrees. The first three are eSun filament.
The first pic has 7 layer thick vertical walls. I thought this might be part of the issue so I reduced it:
The second pic has 3 layer thick walls and still has the issue but to a lesser degree.
Third pic: now trying again in Prusa filament and the problem is still happening.
Any suggestions on what to try next??

This could be z banding. Do you have any play in any of you axis or print head?

@cwbullet Thanks for putting a name to what I'm seeing.
Do I check for play by holding the motor pulley and trying to move the associated axis? If so surprisingly (to me) yes.
Holding Y: I get ~1-2mm of motion when pushing the bed with my hand.
Holding X: slightly less motion, not more than 1mm.
For Z: I can hear and see ~.1mm motion in the leadscrews, and maybe .5mm in the X axis shafts/bearing/extruder mount bending.
Does this strike you as excessive play?

See if your hotend moves the in mount.

It's not belt tension, noticing oddness in the Z
I tightened up the belts a bit and ran the belt test to verify they were in range (probably should have done that first. whoops) But belt tension is verified good now.
I've noticed a few odd things about the Z axis:
1. I've run the XYZ calibration a handful of times over the past week and it fails 50% of the time. I drop the PINDA as the manual suggests and it's able to calibrate successfully afterwards and I shrug and move on. But this has happened 3 times now.... odd, no?
2. When running the XYZ calibration the printer runs the axes to their limits; I've noticed that when Z runs to the top, the left side will bottom out (or top out, i guess) before the right. This suggests to me the two lead screws are getting out of sync.
Thoughts on what to check for z motors getting out of sync?

Wow. Thanks for finding and sending that link. Let's see if I have two springs.
I would contact prusa support and talk about getting replacements. If this is not an isolated case and it appears it is not then they need to be made aware that their supplier is sending dodgy stepper motors.
Besides, steppers rarely work with full torque once they are disassembled.

Top end of each Z axis correctly mounted? There´s a common error to mount the top upside down.

New motor fixed it
To close this topic out: After quite some dubugging via chat, Prusa sent me a new Z motor. I put it on the side that was exhibiting worse artifacts and voila it's printing perfectly.
