New build i3 MK3

Everything seemed to go very well with the build. when I power on the unit the LCD displays External SPI flash W25x20CL is not responding. Language switch unavailable. Then moves on to the Hi, I am you original Pursa13 printer, ect. The only option I can select is the wizard to run the setup. both fans check out OK, then when it tried to check the X axis I almost instantly get an error to Please check Axis length Axis X. When I try to update the firmware, it see's the printer but access to the flash fails. I have tried with both windows and Mac with different cables. I have looked over everything, and I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

Thank you,

John

X Axis length is very common build problem: check you have no cable tie tails pointing left of right out the back of the extruder, didn't add a pretty fan grill to the extruder, or do anything that changes the extruder volume.  The tail out the back being most critical. It can't be any wider than the plastic support plus a cable tie thickness.

Second most common are ungreased bearings or bearings tightened down too much (screws on the back of the extruder near the bearings need to be loosened up to not crimp the bearings).

ps: a setup wizard error is not firmware unless you've modified something in hardware.

Turns out the ribbon cable ports, the slots are facing each other. Looking at the manual the slot for the cable should both be on the left side of the port. I pressed in the cable and the printer booted right up, and allowed me to upgrade the firmware. The X Axis now moves left and right, but still fails. My pulley is set as close as I can tell to the picture and website.

Hi John,
can you show us a picture of the x axis motor pulley? with the motor shaft flat face in view?
Have you lubed the bearings?
can we see a picture of the cable management behind the X carriage from both sides?
Does the X carriage move smoothly from side to side, by hand, when the printer is at Idle?
regards Joan

Not sure how to add these, so I'll do them one at a time.

photo 5 shows my main board ribbon cable connectors are incorrect. the slots are facing each other instead of both of the slots being on the left hand side. I was able to insert the cable and the unit will calibrate manually without issue. When I try to run the wizard it warns that it will overwrite the calibration. When I select Yes, the fans test OK, I get 2 beeps and the axis X error.

You need to go back to the build phase, reread the part about routing cables through the extruder and pigtail support. Then try putting it together correctly. Note how the PINDA cable routes through the extruder housing, not around it.

Regarding the two connectors on the Einsy: yeah, that looks like an assembly error in China.  Contact Prusa Support via CHAT on their store web page: they should be able to say one way or another if yours is a new type of board of a factory fail; in which case they'll send a new one out.
