Long string of filament when unloading

I am really happy with my built MK3 but there is one thing that worries me a bit although I don't have any problems yet. When unloading certain filaments (PLA) there is a long string coming out of the top. It happens with different brands and sometimes it's longer and sometimes shorter (in the picture it's one of the extreme long ones). Only Prusament (which shipped with the printer) seems to be ok all the time and there is usually only a very short string. Could it be related to the temperature? I already lowered it to 200°C before unloading.

That's just a strand of partially-melted filament, the stringing effect at extreme. If you pull slowly, it will continue until the filament finally cools. I just pull up quickly to break the strand. I like to toss it in a small filament refuse bin and blast it with a heat gun before disposal to avoid having the stuff blow around. If you're worried about left-over filament in your hotend and nozzle, run some cleaning filament through at higher temps to purge it.

Thanks bobstro. I did some more tests and it seems that my understanding of pulling quickly wasn't quick enough. So I went from highway speed to formula 1 speed and it's now much better and only a short string came out with the main filament 🙂 I think I will buy some cleaning filament nevertheless.
