RE: Issues with first layer
try something else...
set your printer to 7x7 mesh bed levelling, if it is not already set.
then try
Your build plate looks odd,
did you use HOT water and a tiny bit of simple dish detergent like Dawn or Fairy?
Did you rinse well with plain hot water, and dry immediately afterwards, with plain paper towels.
and then did you use the build plate with no further surface preparation?

RE: Issues with first layer
Only clean with dish soap, alcohol is not needed after cleaning with dish soap.(and if you use alcohol use a lot).
As above in the 3d printer settings, use 7x7 calibration.
Possible you need to go lower. Only a little. print a few squares and go every square a little lower.
Try a different filament.
Water in filament? move extruder in a high position, and extrude some filament, see if it has bubbles.
See youtube for movies on how do I do a first layer calibration.
RE: Issues with first layer
Extra and normally not needed,
first layer extruder hotter,
Bed 10 higher for the whole print.
First layer slower speed.
use glue stick.
It should work without this.
RE: Issues with first layer
careful, Peter's tips are for your first print, not first layer calibration. The calibration should work with PLA preheating default temp and you can't change the speed of the calibration pattern....

RE: Issues with first layer
hi all,
i just got my printer pre brexit, it came on the 23rd dec ,i think. was a xmas pressie so not sure.
came assembled so i just had to load the filament. pla. its been doing fine and ive made 9 or so bits and bobs. however the issues begun after i printed a wind turbine . the top part failed as it was kind of suspended in the air.36 hours or so later. which was my poor judgement. but there was an option to stop and print the top part on its own. so i chose to do this. however i cant seem to get the filament to stick now. ive tried cleaning the bed the glue. nothing seems to work. even was told to use a mixture of glue and alchol. this is not good. as you struggle to then remove the glue from the bed.
so next i then tried the metal sheet on top. same problem. wont stick. heated it up more . slowed the movement. watched every video on utube about getting it to stick there is.. any ideas please?

@sheriff
You might consider opening a new thread for this... and add some pictures while you are at it.
Also: What do you mean by "so next I tried the metal sheet on top"?
