Issue calibrating first layer height

I just assembled my printer as carefully as I could. I was impressed with the thoughtfulness of the design and how easy it was to come together. I have performed the calibration and first layer height adjustment. This is as good as I can get the printout. Any lower, and I get more of the small globs in the line, and any higher and the line gets thin. Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?

Thanks,

Michael

I found a great video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=13&v=EWY1-wliHZc&feature=emb_logo) that indicates that this is because I am too low. I will raise and try again.

In the settings of the printer, use 7x7 calibration.

In your picture i would say it is to low, adjust with  little steps higher.

Try different filament.

Higher temperature extruder, if you move the calibration higher.

If you have a partial clog the line could become to small, move extruder to a high point, extrude filament, see if it is to thin,

and do a few remove filament or a cold pull(search how to do the last one).

@peter-m26

Thank you for your reply. This is using the silver pla that comes with the printer. I will clean the extruded and try again with a higher z. I will also switch to 7x7 calibration.

RE: Issue calibrating first layer height

After adjusting the calibration to 7x7 and changing the sheet type to Textured1 in hardware settings, I have a good looking first layer print!\

Unfortunately, when I start the Prusa Logo print from the sd card, the first layer detaches from the left corner and goes crazy:

I had cleaned the plate with isopropyl alcohol. At this point, I'm assuming this is something too tight in my print head. I have tried many prints, and it always fails in the left corner.

Any thoughts?

Clean bed with dish soap, a few times, dry plate, and print again.

Your first layer looks to high.

Cleaning bed and first layer is very important.
