Home location gets corrupted
I have a MK3S with 30 days of perfect printing. On my last print it failed after the X axis shifted to the right. It wouldn't home correctly after that.
I ran multiple full calibrations that complete up to the Z layer calibration. When it places the first line of filament in the home location it is squiggly or spaghetti followed by the X axis jumping to the right.
If I try to home at that point it goes to the bottom right and the Z axis thinks it's below the steel surface.
What has gone wrong ?

I do have the same problem as Dave (I think) after printing for weeks without any issues at all; last night it was printing fine, this morning the printhead crashed into the right side. The printer hasn't moved an inch over the past weeks. A few other things I noticed:
- Calibration fails when it's trying to locate the 5th reference point (the middle one) and the printhead does not reach reference point 6.
- When using the "Auto Home" function I have to execute it 3 times before it actually moved to the home position.
- Running "Calibrate first layer" repeatedly gets stuck after selecting the filament type; heating starts, but then nothing happens and the menu doesn't provide an option to abort calibration as it shows only 4 options: Info screen, Tune, Fail stats and Support.
Any suggestions?

Sorry about the delay in replying. So here is where I landed:
I took my printer to the place where I bought it and had it serviced. The biggest issue was that one of the X axis bearings had worn out. They also said that my belts were a little loose (to me, they feel the same) and that a couple of zip ties had moved and may have caught on something (again, didn't seem to be the issue). They also cleaned my nozzle which may have got gummed up in the crash.
So, basically it was just a bearing issue. Hope that helps.

Pretty much every routine problem is one of three things: build plate cleaning, bearings and obstructions, or Z level.
Makes giving advice easy. Not much new can go wrong.

After many failed calibration attempts, checks on bearings, belts and anything else I could think of, I turned the metal printing plate upside down because I noticed a small scratch near the fifth calibration point. When I ran the calibration again, it finished without errors. Printing is also working fine again. I didn't have the guts yet to flip the metal plate back again, but if I have a bit of time and nothing urgent to print I may give it a try.
