Help With First Layer

I got my first 3D printer last week (MK3S). Followed the directions meticulously to put it together over the weekend. From my research this is not an uncommon issue for new users. Scour the internet but did not find a fix for quite the same issue (I don't think). Take a look a a bunch of different adjustments to the first layer calibration.

Calibration Attempt

The sides of the square always lift up no matter what I have it set to. I can get great lines however the square never turns out. When I get it where I think it's good my first layers don't fully stick or get lifted my the next pass. I am cleaning the bed between prints with IPA. Here is the first layer of two prints.

test prints

I did try the squares and I get mixed results around the bed. Considering this is my first printer I am a little lost. Any help wold be great.

Hi Austin,
have a look at
https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/

I find that process easier than the Prusa first layer configuration.

and I clean my buildplates with hot water and dish soap, drying well with Plain paper towels, and no other chemicals.

handle the build plate by the edges to prevent finger prints.

Thank you for your replay. I assumed those streaks were from the IPA. I will give that a shot when I get home and report back. You would recommend setting the build plate to 65-70C as well? (I saw that in the picture)

I noticed you post a lot on the forums and are very knowledgeable. Would you recommend the nyloc mod for the heat bed?

@austin-niederer

I experienced the same after a while.  Dish soap fixed my issue a month ago!  I use IPA for maintenance in between prints still.

Hi Austin,
I have 5 FDM printers and none of them have the nylock modification.

some people swear by various mods...    not all are necessary. sometimes the root cause is not corrected  by changes, but the slight improvement that is possible from some upgrades may be enough to temporarily tip the towards  temporary success...

if you are a bit ham fisted, it's possible to make matters worse not better!

Thanks for the info and helping out. I washed my build plate with soap and water. Here are my results:

I learned two lessons. Keep my greasy hands off the build plate and don't clean with IPA of the plate is hot. Thank you for your help!
