Flex Filament - Stuck to build plate. Ended up ripping off clear coat off of my build plate

Heya!

First time printing with Flex Filament.

Fiberology FiberFlex 40d

When I removed the print it was very heavily stuck.   I tried some isopropyl  and some elbow grease but it ended up pulling off clear coat off of the build plate.  (Which I assume is now ruined on that side.

Any tips on how to avoid this? How to better prep / different plate to use maybe?

TIA!

Super robust and helpful reply. Thank you.

Side note: I had referred to that chart when ordering and printing , but I made a mistake and I think I thought I had a powder coated plate and in actuality it looks like I have a PEI plate.  I'm assuming the glue stick helps give a layer of something that can be peeled off easier etc..

Well, Lichtjaeger is right. Reading and conforming with manufacturer recommendations is a good and reliable way to avoid what happened, this is the answer to your question. And: Yes, you are correct, the glue stick works as a separation layer between the filament and the smooth PEI.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
