First layer petg won’t stick anymore

I printed the first parts for the enclosure without any problems on the coated sheet 230 nozzle and 85/90 degrees bed. Now the petg won’t stick on the bed anymore for some reason. Cleaned and recalibration dit not help.
even whit the glue stick.

can somebody explain this?

z calibration live done

clean bed done

what I see is that the fan is not turning to cool on the nozzle. Tested the fan and that one is workbench.

thanks and hope some can explain this

You say the fan cooling the nozzle isn't spinning. Is that the fan on the left or did you mean the part cooling fan at the front.

The fan on the left always spins when the nozzle is above 50 deg C. If it doesn't you have a problem there.

The part cooling fan at the front is controlled by gcode. For PETG it is often turned off during the first few layer.

How did you clean the bed? You should use dish soap and plenty of hot water. Than dry with clean paper towels and heat it on the printer for something like 15 minutes to completely dry.

its doing that.. and goes on at the second layer

cleaned with soap and hot water..

it's dragging the filament behind the nozzle.. now i print on the same bed PLA and glue.. that works but the corners are bending up...

If it is dragging filament behind the nozzle your Z is way too high still.  Be agressive, go lower.

Clean bed with dish soap, and use a lot of hot water, do this a few times, this is very important.

Then make a picture of your first layer.

The first layer needs to be 100% perfect, if wrong sticking will get bad.

If I have this, I do this, I start a fresh first layer.

I start to print a first layer, but I start to high( a lot higher), and then lower it in little steps, print a few cubes, so you can adjust it a few times.

I often  go to low and sticking gets bad then, and wen putting the layer down I do not see it always.

Check your first layer if it is one flat piece of material that sticks good together, look if it is sticking over the whole bed.

Try different roll of filament, or de-moister the roll of filament.

RE: First layer petg won’t stick anymore

I know this thread is a bit stale, but it's a probably a pretty common issue, and I wanted to echo that this was very helpful!

I had just successfully printed a model, and went to print a different model, but with the same filament (PETG) and same settings from PrusaSlicer, but the darn thing (my Mini+) just wouldn't stick the first layer. I cancelled and tried again several times and was perplexed by why it had worked perfectly (and had been for dozens of other prints) but this time, I couldn't get the first layer to stick.

So, I followed @baklin's simple, sage advice and washed my PEI steel sheet with hot soapy water, and dried it on an 80 degree bed for about 10 minutes, and voila! Successful print.

In hindsight, I must have used *the other* side of the build plate on the previously successful prints, and there must have been just enough leftover residue from the alcohol soaked paper towel I had been using, or a bit of oil from my fingerprints or something. But my build plate had not had a good soapy bath in a while; I had just been wiping it with alcohol between prints.

My point is that just when I started to doubt my settings, and tear apart my previously successful routine, I took a deep breath and tried the simple solution of warm soapy water, and it got me back on track. Hopefully this helps someone else before they go changing everything and end up farther away from successful prints! 🙂
