It might sound stupid but hairspray really helps.

RE: First layer PETG not sticking to print bed

It's pretty much been confirmed that some (many? most?) of the 3d print stick-um products are either repackaged hair spray or of a very similar formula.

The hairstylist that my wife and I both use took a look-feel of Layerneer and said it is quite possibly a so-called unscented hair spray and gave the brand name of 'Rave' as one possibility.

I like Layerneer as it works very well and a bottle lasts a very long time with my rate of usage, so I will most likely continue to use it instead of trying to save a few bucks.

I tried two different reels of PETG (both by the same brand, eSUN), very poor results. But got a reel of ERYONE today and it's amazing in comparison. What I found was the other brand just wouldn't stick well so I was unable to calibrate the Z amount properly, I couldn't tell if the nozzle was too close or too far away. The new stuff is amazing and it shows in the print, the first layer is flawless.

Just wanted to reinforce that the soap and water does the trick, should someone hesitate.

RE: First layer PETG not sticking to print bed

This is the thread that keeps on giving because I, too, have just learned the joy of washing the build plate in hot, soapy water.  I’ve only ever printed with PETG, so it was confusing when routine successes turned into routine failures seemingly overnight. Took a break for a while, and came back with some trepidation, but came across this thread and decided to give it a shot.  Perfect results.  Washing the plate frequently (a utility sink nearby makes it trivial) and always handling the place with a clean towel or clean gloves is now SOP.  I feel like I got my printer back.  Good for my psyche, a tragedy for my wallet.

Thanks to everyone who’s contributed to this thread over the years.
