First Layer Calibration arghhhhhh

Hi am new to 3D printing. Used printer that came with a .6mm nozzle attached. Not sure how to change nozzles yet.

Trying to do the first line calibration and played with Z controls to bring it down to -.500.  Do I need more or wait until I can put on a 0.4mm nozzle ? Getting very frustrated.  Have yet to print anything as I was getting blobs a couple of layers in.

Thanks, Tara

Hi Tara,
Please find attached a zip file with three test squares, sliced for 0.6mm nozzle, these are PLA, PETG and ABS
Hopefully  one of these matches your available filament.

Please try one of these files and adjust live Z whilst the print progresses,

this picture might help you get a good first layer, which is the foundation for a good print

PLEASE BE AWARE... the actual value of Live Z is different for every printer, so the numbers above are for comparative purposes only...

Ideally live Z value will be a negative number smaller than -2.00mm
Live Z is likely to be different for PLA and PETG and ABS, because they print at different temperatures,
Live Z is likely to be different for Smooth build plates, Satin Build plates and Textured build plates

Please remember, you can adjust live Z during the first layer test print, you don't have to wait until a print has finished, to adjust for the next test print...

regards Joan
