extrusion issue

Hello everyone,
I bought the kit and assembled it in dec 2018. I was able to print out 2 of the test prints. On the third one it stopped extruding but was continuing the "path of the model". I stopped the printer and was eventually able to remove the remaining filament by doing a cold pull. I removed the entire extruder assembly and found the clog and removed it and re-assembled it. I was rewarded with an acceptable "first layer. I then went to try another print and the extruder would not extrude. I've now been through several load and unload of pla filament and that seems to work ok its pulling in about 3.5" of material. however after it does this and the printer is up to temp. it doesn't print the model. by that I mean it goes through the motions but no pla comes out of the extruder. One thing to note when I do a "load filament" I am getting different amounts of pla from the extruder first time was a string, second time it was nothing, third time it was a small ball. its almost as if there is such swing thermally between the extruder area and the heat sink I don't get material.
Please any suggestions would be very welcome right now. I am really frustrated with this at the moment.

Re: extrusion issue

In step 16 did you just barely tighten the screw by chance? If so, it may not be grabbing the filament properly.

interesting catch... the infamous step 16 well when I started I had it exactly as the book stated the heads were just proud of the surface. I was wondering if something wasn't catching so I made them flush to the surface
