error "calibrations failed, check axis..."

I just finished assembling my MK3S+ (what a pain that was, next time I'll just pay them to do it for me), and tried to do the calibration wizard.  It gets through up to adding the sheet of paper and doing XYZ.  At that point, as soon as I click on Yes, I get an error "calibration failed!  check axis and run again."  It doesn't say which axis, so I double checked them all, tightened up a couple screws, took apart and reassembled the entire Z axis rods since one was grinding (had to loosen up a screw that was hitting the screw rod), checked firmware (I have the latest), checked all over this forum, website, manuals, etc and this error is not even mentioned!  I'm not having fun with this at all, I just want a printer that works!  My CR10S Pro v2 is a POS that hasn't worked in over a year, so I had high hopes with this Prusa one.  Nope, can't even get past the calibration wizard.  I need pics of what to look for and what this error really means.  I followed the assembly manual step by step checking EVERYTHING as I went along.  Two weeks of tiny screws and fat fingers, and I can't get it to work for nothing.....  PLEASE HELP!  I'm about to chuck it out the window!

Don't give up now ... that underlying knowledge of the workings WILL pay off, honest.  In the meanwhile:

Thanks, Diem, unfortunately that link does not have the error I have.  I've been researching all day and can't even find that error.  After waiting half an hour for someone on the chat I gave up.  I emailed them with the problem, hopefully I found the right email.  So far support is very lacking....

RE:

Which version of the firmware does your LCD menu report?

The most likely cause of xyz calibration errors are stray cables or zip ties preventing either axis full travel.

It's unusual for support chat to take more than a couple of minutes, you must have caught them in a busy period ... try again, the email support is often slow.

The firmware is 3.11, the latest, it's the first thing I checked.  Zip ties are oriented correctly and cut flush, it was suggested on a youtube video to check the hotend (which took a week for me to build, not sure how to take apart without undoing all the cable bundles).  If that's not the problem I'll have to pay a professional to fix it, money I don't have....

Well, after an email from Prusa I had to spend some time while home sick unassembling and reassembling my hotend.  Seems like the problem was the hotend itself jumped out of one of the slots.  Took about three hours today to fix it and calibration ran fine.  Now I have another problem.  On the third point of the first layer calibration it gets stuck on "something went wrong, need to do Z calibration", then it does that over and over again (like five times so far before I shut it off).  I did get it to do the FLC once the first time, that went fine, but when I put in the SD card to print a test print it went into FLC again and I haven't been able to do that since.  I even took out the card, but now FLC won't work at all with this constant Z calibration.  OY!  If it's not one frustrating thing it's another.  Really need help with this one because I can't find this error anywhere either.....

RE: error "calibrations failed, check axis..."

This was discussed in one of the archived forum threads, but I had the same just now on a new printer. The Z calibration didn't go all the way to the top, so when it tried to calibrate the 4 corners, it stopped with this error due to the Z issue.  The solution for me, as discussed in the old topic, was to manually move Z to the top, power cycle the printer, then restart the startup wizard.  Now, why that first "Calibrating Z" would fail is beyond me, I see no movement issues on the Z axis.

Sorry I didn't post the solution earlier, but a couple weeks ago I had to do a reset to factory settings (press the X button) and start over.  My printer has been working absolutely fine since then.
