Einsy board failures

My MK3 i3 has had 2 Einsy board failures. My machine is a kit and the first failure was after 5 days of use. The right z motor would stop working during a print and during z calibration. Tech service had me switch the 2 z motor connectors and then it would work normally but on every other z axis calibration the whole z axis would stop working.

Prusa replaced the Einsy board and the second board failed after 10 days. The failures where random events - loss of the screen for 2-4 seconds, loss of expected temp on the plate (the temp reading of the probe was ok), sudden stop prints.

I will install the latest Einsy board when it comes in the next 2 days.

Two Einsy boards in a few weeks seems a lot to me! 😯 Has anyone else had similar problems?

Re: Einsy board failures

Randome issues on the board, could this be something attached causing a short somewhere? While waiting for the new board try disconnecting the two motors for the Z-axis and see if it works properly accept for the Z.
Could one of the Z motors cause a short or something?

Re: Einsy board failures

I had the same issue with my Z axis. Support had me switch them, home Z then switch back. Unit has been running well for a couple of months since. My thought is that it was a poor connection, though that's just my case. Support was quick to diagnose the issue so my assumption is that it's not too uncommon of an issue.
