Calibration Failed

Greetings,

First-time user/builder, but experienced technical person.

I just finished building my i3 MK3 Kit, and I'm getting a calibration error.

I've run through the initial self-check and all was good. It does the X and Y axis check, then runs up to the top of the Z axis for top out, and there the carriage stops.

It then asks you to remove the steel sheet, followed by reminding you to put down a sheet of paper.

From here, the Carriage stays at the top of the Z axis, and I get a Calibration failed notice.

Everything seems fine. I took my time and assembled everything correctly as far as I can surmise. Hot-end is fully installed, the trapezoidal nuts are not reversed...

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Re: Calibration Failed

Only thing I notice maybe out of the norm is the extruder-stepper is a bit warm for just sitting there. Much warmer than the other components.

Re: Calibration Failed

its more sensitive during calibration, as opposed to just smashing the carriage all the way up. something may be causing it to bind all the way at the top. I like to leave the nuts loose, top out z by turning the screws by hand and then hand tighten the nuts again.

normal for the stepper.

Problem Solved!

Solution? I'm an idiot and made a mistake in assembly- somehow plugging the extruder into the PINDA probe port on the board, and the PINDA probe plug got lost in the rats-nest of wires and was never plugged in to begin with.

She's now up and running, and printing like a dream. This machine is FANTASTIC. I heart Prusa.
