Problem building MK3 kit. Need some advice.
Good morning everyone,
I recently received my MK3 kit to build, and I got a chance to dig into it last night. I'm still on the first part of assembly, the Y-Axis, and I am now working with the U-bolts and bearings.
I got the first two positioned how (I believe) they should be via the manual, but the third bolt is giving me some problems. Specifically, the nyloc nut will not thread on one of them. At first I thought maybe it was the nut itself, but NONE of the nuts will thread. The bolt does not appear stripped, and try as I might I cannot get it to tighten down. I've tried the pliers too, but to no avail. I'm going to try a socket set next to see if I can get it to take, but I'm not optimistic.
If I assume worst case and I have a defective bolt, outside of ordering a new set from the online store, does anyone know the dimensions and/or availability in the US of the same (or VERY similar) bolt?
Also, I sent a note to Prusa but I haven't heard back yet.

It is located at the bottom right corner of this page.
They will send you a new part.

Hi Andrew,
For some hardware parts, some have used/recommended McMaster-Carr. I don't know if they'd have the specific U-bolts, but they carry an awful lot. There are other suppliers as well--see: reprap supplies (Keep in mind that all the parts are metric.) 😉

Check in your spares bag

I don't think there are any U-bolts in the spares bag (at least there weren't in mine).

Take one of the nuts to a good hardware store to confirm size and thread; and buy the appropriate dye.
Carefully dress the threads on the offending U-bolt, and that should do it.
Done in the time it took on the op and responding to replies.
Hope this helps.
