Built an i3 mk3s+ as my first 3d printer, getting x axis length error

I really wanted to get into 3d printing to supplement some of my other hobbies and got the i3 mk3s+ kit. I ran into a couple issues while assembling(I'm not too familiar with 3d printers or building electronics), but nothing major. So far I've run into an error with the x axis length and can't figure out what's causing it. I've followed the booklet to troubleshoot and got it running mostly smoothly, with a little resistance on the right side. I've also added more lubricant like some threads suggested. I'm worried that the bearings might not be aligned and I'll need to open up some parts, but wanted to get some second opinions before doing anything else. Attached is a video of the self test for the x axis.

Please let me know if I should send additional pictures or video for clarity, thanks.

Video has not shown up - sometimes files attached by new users take a while...

The commonest reason for  a new build X length error is mispositioned zip ties.

Take a look at step 70 on: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-e-axis-assembly_169235

Now, with power off, slide the X axis all the way to the right.

Do the zip ties crash into the frame or power supply?

If so loosen, rotate away and retighten.

If not, come back and ask again.

Cheerio,

Hi, thanks for your help! I've checked the zip ties and am able to manually move the extruder along the x axis unhindered. Since the video attachment didn't work, here's a video link instead: https://youtube.com/shorts/Cyv1OdsiZdU

When I took the video, I thought I'd gotten it working, but as you can see there's some hesitation as the extruder moves back and forth along the x axis.

Did you lubricate the smooth rods and bearings?

If not. Now, may be a good time for periodic maintenance

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

Look at step 66 on: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-e-axis-assembly_169235

Make sure those screws are not overtightened.

Also, lubrication might help as might adjusting the belt tension.

Let us know how you get on.

RE:

Hi Diem, thanks for giving me more suggestions on how to fix this issue! I'm getting some help from my dad, and we tried all the suggestions above. It's still running mostly smooth with some hesitation, and we do nothing seems to be improving it. We're mostly adjusting the belt tension and checking screws at this point and are getting close to our wit's end. Do you think it might be a good idea to take the x axis apart and try reassembling it? I'm not really sure what else to do and will probably let my dad take a crack at it until he's satisfied, but I did find a place in my city that does repairs for 3d printers, I will likely take mine to them if all else fails.

I've also attached some video and images for further clarification! Not sure if the video will work this time, but I will try adding a youtube link again if it doesn't

From the photos you just posted, it looks like the pulley on the x axis motor isn't in the correct position.  The one set screw should be on the flat portion of the motor shaft.

Make sure those screws are not overtightened.

Even though this is a very good advice, I remember this to be the most frustrating instruction for me during assembly of my MK3. Of course you must not over tighten anything, it's kind of the definition of over tighten that you don't want to do it. I just wished Prusa added a dummy part to the kit especially for over tightening, including the instruction to specifically over tighten it....

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!
