Bondtech gear setscrew stuck

During assembly, I overtightened the tiny set screw and stripped it out (the allen head, not the threads) and can't get it back out (for alignment).
Any suggestions? I suspect I'll have to cut it off. Are replacements available? the part on the store site looks different?

You might be able to get it out with a high quality hex driver. I highly recommend these- they are incredibly hard and never round out.

I ordered that driver set, but not particularly optimistic... the set screw head is pretty rounded out at this point.
Failing that, I'll need to order a replacement gear (set). They are not listed on the Prusa store. Does anyone know of a US based store? Or just Bondtech directly? http://shop.bondtech.se/en/drivegears/

If you do not see the bondtech gear on their store under "printer parts" for "mk3"

Start a chat with support, and tell them you can't see it. It's there. And if you got your MK3, you should be able to see it too. 🙂

Also, the two allen wrench sets I would reccomend would be.

The PB swiss has a great chromed surface finish, it's a touch slippery when your hands are covered in oil/grease/coolant/lubricant. However when using these one handed, the ball is second to none. These are IMO the best wrenches you can buy for "dry" or "no slippery stuff on your hands". I used these for 6 months, all day, and only ever broke one of them.

This is my personal allen wrench set that I use at home. The ball is not as "smooth" as the PB Swiss, but the metal is less "slippery" And It's MUCH easier to hold onto and use when everything is covered in oil. It also has a Snap ring on the larger sizes which makes it "hold" the screw without needing magnetic, so it works with stainless too!

I've had quite a few other brands/styles. But basically here's my rule.

1. Is it made in china? Give it to the intern to break, then severely scold him when it breaks. Cause it will.
2. Is it made in china? Give it to the intern to round out a screw. Severely scold him when he does it, and then severely scold him again, when you point out that his wrench is rounded off too, and then THROW IT IN THE TRASH WHERE IT BELONGS.

Always test your allen wrench before using it in a hole. It should be "snug" If there is any "slop" try another set. I actually have a set of american allen wrenches made wrong, and they are oversized by ~0.02mm, and you basically have to hammer it into the screw... which is good for removing "worn out" holes.

If your allen wrench is loose in a "new" hole, check to make sure the "edges" of the allen wrench are sharp, if they are rounded, throw them away.

I bet you never thought using an allen wrench is so complicated?

PS: If you are using your allen wrench with more than one hand, you are doing it the hard way.

I have had luck using a good quality torx bit to remove some set screws that have stripped

Thanks guys. A good (not Home Depot/Autozone) set of allen drivers solved the problem.
