Now there intermittent adhesion and the filament wants to stick to the hotend, I replaced the filament with Prusa(the one that came with the kit) also cleaned the steel sheet with wetnap that came with the kit.

"hotend full of filament?". What do you mean by that? Was merely your nozzle messy or did you have a big Blob of Doom stuck to your entire hotend? If you could remove the latter consider yourself lucky. In either case it suggests you had already adhesion problems before that incident.

Now it might be even worse. After a Blob of Doom you should definitely redo your first layer calibration and adapt the Z-offset. I am not sure from your picture, it could also be that you are having a partial clogg of your nozzle as well but I'd first do the first layer calibration and see if that is your issue.

the print peeled up and stuck to the hotend and it ran for about 30 minutes.. i guess blob of doom?

anyway its brand new i thought i mentioned that,   i figureed out i needed to clean it even though its brand new..it seems to be working now.  thanks

Looks like you have the textured print sheet. There are pages and pages in these forums recounting the difficulties folks have had getting PLA to stick to the textured sheet. My experiences included. Search the forums for ‘textured sheet.’

If you have globs of filament on your hotend, that’s the first thing to sort out. Search ‘blob of doom’ for more on this. 

As for the build sheet, take it to the sink and clean it well with lots of hot hot water and fragrance free dish detergent (I use Dawn here in the US, highly recommended). I also use one of those sponges with a ‘scotch-brite’ surface on one side. Make sure it’s a non-abrasive surface and make sure it’s brand new and has never been in contact with food.

 Scrub the build sheet and rinse in plenty of hot water. Dry with paper towels and only hold the sheet by the edges. Don’t touch the build surface with your fingers. Get some 99% IPA or as close to that as you can find. You can run the IPA over the cold build surface with a clean paper towel between prints.

I switched to printing PETG right away due to my frustrations trying to print PLA on a textured sheet. I have since purchased the satin sheet and use that when I want to print PLA, although I still struggle with certain formulations. I’m thinking of buying a smooth PEI sheet to (hopefully) fully eliminate said frustrations.

thanks for the help!  i ended up doing 2 things that worked, 1st was cleaning the surface (again) with acetone  1st layers are amazing now,  the 2nd thing i did was use the prusament  profile instead of generic PLA,    ( i have yet to try with Generic and cleaned surface)

I guess my biggest issue was assuming since i have only made 1 print that the surface was still "clean".

FWIW, Prusa specifically states not to use acetone on the textured sheet:

As a point of information, it can be difficult to get PLA to stick consistently to the textured sheet. Some folks never had success with this combination and abandoned the pursuit altogether, using the textured sheet for PETG, ABS, TPU, and other materials, but not PLA.

Personally, I feel like the textured sheet needs to be ‘seasoned’ to function as expected; kind of like a cast iron frying pan, but with regular scrubbing (in between prints) with hot water, Dawn dish detergent, and the rough side of a scotch-brite pad, dried with paper towels and treated to a rub down with 99% IPA. But that’s just my experience. And I still don’t print PLA on that sheet because I don’t trust it 100%.

I find PLA can leave trace amounts of material behind following a print, that acts like a Teflon coating, preventing the next print from sticking properly. Not always, but sometimes. So I wipe down with IPA between prints until that doesn’t work anymore, then it’s back to the sink for a scrub.

Everyone has their own methods that work for them so find what works for you and enjoy your printer.

I really like the finish that the Prusa textured build plate gives, and I'm looking for a similar one for the Ultimaker, my other printer, with no luck.

Yes, getting PLA to stick to it may be a bit more tricky than on the smooth plates.  I most often use Layerneer on the textured plate, both as an adhesion booster and as a release agent.

And yes, the Party Line is to never clean the textured plate with acetone, but over the years, people here have reported occasionally doing so without the world suddenly coming to an end.  I've had good luck cleaning it with alcohol, either IPA or denatured alcohol from the hardware store when IPA was in short supply during the pandemic.

‘Occasionally’ being the operative word here.

Being a brand new printer, the use of acetone may be premature and, possibly damaging if it becomes habitual. But maybe not…

At the end of the day, use what works for you.

Btw, totally agree re the finish obtained printing with the textured sheet. That’s a key reason to use it with ‘agreeable’ materials.
