MK3s Troubleshooting

This is what I got. My prints were starting to stop at a certain height. The hot end would act like it was printing but the filament would stop coming out. I started by checking for clogs, cleaning the hot extruder etc... I then checked the g-code and tried running different prints, same thing. I then tried a belt test, that's when I started getting X Axis errors and failed tests. I worked that a little and found that the zipties must have been adjusted wrong which gave a failed test. I passed the X and Z axis but then failed the rest of the test and started giving a loud beep with an error on the left fan. THEN it moved to heatbed error with the loud beep. Not sure what is happening. Any thoughts?

Side question, I took the heat bed cable cover off to check the connection. Should I be able to touch the wire with the power on? Shouldn't I feel some kind of voltage?

Hi Michael,

the heatbed is only 24 volts. Most folk won't feel that with dry hands...

but messing with electricity is not a normal fun activity. so if you want to know if there is electricity there, use a test meter!

LOL. I wasn't messing with the wires. I was checking the connection and accidently touch the wire and didn't notice any voltage. Is there any easy way to check the ensiy board? I will put a voltage tester on it today. So frustrating.

You can get cheap multimeters at most any hardware store.

The most likely cause of multiple, apparently unrelated, errors is an intermittent electrical connection, either loose or dirty, or a cracked conductor in the extruder wire bundle.

First open the electronics cases to pull and replace all the plugs, make sure all are firmly seated.

If problems persist you will need a multimeter to check the continuity of cables in the wire bundle.

Cheerio,
