Bondtech and Mosquito Hotend

Hi,

I Wonder if I can upgrade my mk3s+ with Bondtech Extruder and Mosquito Hotend to 3.5 to get at least the new Loveboard and Touchscreen.
usually Bondtech shares modified firmware, but will this be possible with the loveboard?

RE: Bondtech and Mosquito Hotend

As I understand it, the MK3.5 upgrade doesn't changes anything in the extruder,  just the electronic mainboard, screen and firmware.

In theory, you'd need only that Bondtech releases a firmware compatible with the new electronics and you're good to go. Usually they do it pretty fast for the MK3S+  ( their version of the 3,12,2 is already available ), Who knows if the new electronic board requires additional work, so I wouldn't bet on how long it will take for Bondtech to do it.

A totally different thing is the MK3.9/MK4 upgrade, which use the Nextruder, incompatible with the current Bondtech kits. That means designing new plastic parts for mounting the extruder and the Mosquito hotend and, of course, you'd loose the advantages of the Nextruder for automatic Z calibration,

I'm thinking about it too. We have an MK3S+ with Bondtech Upgrade, Revo Six and "other fans". This remains at 3.11 for the time being because 3.12.x causes problems thanks to the fans and the Revo. Whether Bondtech or Caribou3D (the former more likely) will provide custom firmware for the MK3.5 is crucial, as I find that MK3.9 or MK4 "as an upgrade" make no financial sense, then rather buy an MK4 as another printer...

RE:

I too have wondered about the impact of going to 3.5 on my 7 MK3s+ machines with mosquito hotends. Should not effect anything except make it run smoother I would think. I know there is firmware for the MK4, but how is that going to work on our modded MK 3’s? For what it’s worth, I have a 3.5 upgrade kit on order.

RE: Bondtech and Mosquito Hotend

I contacted Bondtech regarding this question and that's what they said :

"We will try to see if it is possible to have a Bondtech version for the MK3.5, we will order the kit and try to find a solution. "

So it seems that there's hope but, of course, it will take some time after Prusa starts delivering the MK3.5 upgrade kits,
