Z offset: G or M code?

Is there way to set/read the Z offset via G or M codes?

I think it would also be nice if the current setting could be viewed or adjusted via the LCD when not in print mode.

Re: Z offset: G or M code?

Hi

I have the "Live Adjust" available when the printer is idle. Just go there and it displays the setting. This is firmware 3.0.1.

Having said that, I can't really see why I would want to know the value. When I calibrated the printer, I was not interested in or looking at the value; I just wanted to get the nozzle to the correct position.

Actually, the value is simply the difference between where the probe is positioned and where it should be positioned.

I would like to set it as part of my printer profile.

That's only because I'm assuming the value gets wiped with a new firmware flash.

If it gets stored somewhere outside the firmware... that's a different story

Yeah, it gets stored in EEPROM, so not needed in GCode.

It should not change with a firmware upgrade.

All settings untouched after upgrade 3.0.0->3.0.2.
