Two left hands - putting the filament roll in place

As we say in French, i've got two left hands and i'm not sure how to install the filament holder on top of the (already assembled) Mk2. The holder arms don't fit quite around the top bar of the prusa. Do i have to force them in position ? is there a trick ?

Sounds like a very low level issue compared to what i can read here but... i don't want to break anything 🙂 ,

thx !

They do have to kind of snap into position.

Would recommend the first thing you print is the Adjustable spool holder from thingiverse. Makes changing rolls much easier.

They do loosen off with use.

It is worthwhile getting a length of pvc water pipe that will slip over the pads pn the filament holder arms
Because some filaments have one side larger than the other.

As a last resort i have used the centre of a toilet paper roll. As tbe tube for a filament roll with different size holes in the middle.

As kevin suggest, one of your first projects should be a new filament spool holder from Thingiverse. Thingiverse Search
There are a lot to choose from... 😀

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Agree with everybody to replace the original spool holder. There are a bunch of them on Thingiverse. I have done mine with stuff I found in my workshop...
It doesn't take more than 2 hours to build it if you have everything on hand. You need:
- 2 wood boards
- 2 alu mounting brackets
- 1 alu rod
- a few screws
- clamps (blue pieces on the pict) printed with PETG

The clamps hold the spools so that they don't move horizontally. The green piece below the black filament spool is a filament guide which I found on Thingiverse. That one is from Area51. Thank you 🙂
