💡 when you need some spare parts, contact the prusa sales team through the chat option at the shop.
they can enable your account (if you are a registered customer) to get access to the i3/mk2 specific spare parts. so you can order a mk42 heatbed, pinda probe, extruder pulleye, printed spare parts etc. .

but be aware that prusa specific spare parts come along with prusa specific prices... 😮

➡ in addition i can confirm that the shipping of spare parts, that are in stock, is quite fast !

the Prusa i3 is an open source machine, many of the parts are source able from alternative suppliers.

the main items which are currently difficult to source are the Pinda Probe, and the Mk42 heatbed.

these appear currently in short supply, but this may be due to non prusa original i3 users wanting to upgrade their printres with these parts.

I recently tried to buy a pinda probe for a spare, and had to speak the support chat team before access was made available.
after which it was no problem...

the heatbed is quite robust... spare PEI is available, and the wires can be replaced with silicone insulated radio controlled vehicle battery wires.
so it should never need to be totally replaced.

all of the plastic parts are 3d printable, the stud iron is standard engineering supplies, as are the nuts, washers and cap screws. Rambo mini is available from the manufacturers. I believe the motors are badge engineered, standard motors, fans and extruder, are available from E3D as well, bearings and smooth shafts are available from a number of sources. cap head the LCD is a commonly available part...

the main frame should be unbreakable

Which bits are you worried about?

@Joan The Pinda probe and the heated bed, as I said before. My bed has a very deep score, and the pinda probe is a failed print away from being knocked off, ie the black bit at the bottom and wrecked. The two go together and are a crucial part of the MK2. Spares should be freely available.

I have had 2 Pinda probes fail, one by my doing and the other the wires wore out. I was able to easily order them from the Prusa site. Shipping was outrageous but the part was easily ordered.

Do orders for "in stock" replacement parts tend to take as long to ship as printer kits? I ordered quite awhile ago and it it still hasn't shipped, I was just curious.

i ordered some spare parts a few days ago and they were delivered just 3 days later. can't complain about that.
in your case i would ask the sales team through the chat option at the shop.

I ordered a Pinda and PEI sheet from Prusa, and they arrived within days.
the Mk42 heated bed was an in stock option but i didn't order one, because mine is Ok!

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be delivered quickly...

According to the live chat my order for spare parts will ship sometime next week. This puts it over 3 weeks from time of order. YMMV.
