The problem with that is that the bed height would change. With the Mk2 it's not a big issue other than reducing the maximum height of the print and if you are careful, then not a problem, but ideally the firmware should be amended to reflect the reduced height (Z_MAX).
With the bearings seated properly and tight cable ties, there should not be an issue though.
