Reverse Control Knob action

This may sound like a completely stupid question, but is it possible to reverse the action of the control knob? for example Counter clockwise scrolls down & decreases values whilst Clockwise scrolls up & increases values. I don't know why but the current way just feels completely back to front & I'm embarrassed to say just cannot get to grips with it 😳

Re: Reverse Control Knob action

There's a better solution. Don't use the control knob.

Get a RPi, install Octoprint and control the printer via your computer, smartphone etc.

I use octopi, but I still would like to reverse the knob, just like the OP.
Octopi is great, but its not an alternative to the display; when switching filaments, calibrating, switching between silent and power mode etc, you still need, or at least want, to use the LCD, because you're standing next to the printer, not next to your PC.

Re: Reverse Control Knob action

Well, I think there are 2 possible solutions, neither of which I have tested.

1. Hardware. I believe that swapping over the clock and data pins should have the desired effect. This may well be as simple as making up a modified ribbon cable.
2. Firmware. I had a look at the program code and it is possible to make a change there, but I would consider it quite a challenge and something that would need to be done whenever firmware was changed.

Re: Reverse Control Knob action

If it really would drive me crazy, I would recommend the hardware modification as well.
either swap pins #1 and #3 of the encoder at the pcb of the LCD2004 module (lift the pins up and reconnect them with wrap wire) or simply swap pin#3 and #5 of the ribbon cable that leads to P1... this could be done quite elegant if you crimp a new connector to one end and twist over the wires 3 to 5 #(4 would remain in the middle), like at the old cables to connect floppy discs to a pc motherboard.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...
