Neither. You need the 12V direct: http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Full-Kit/v6-1.75mm-Universal

Or you could purchase only the damages parts.

The other thought here - I believe PR are shipping with a 40W heater cartridge at present and I don't know how long they have been doing this.

The standard cartridge which comes with the extruder kit is 30W I believe. You may need to ask them to ship the 40W, on the assumption that you are happy with that.

Peter

P.S. My Mk2 uses a 30W heater without any issues, although the reason PR changed to 40W was to avoid the over-cooling issues. Personally, I am not OK with a 40W heater, for various reasons.

@Peter: just to let you know: my kit already came (end of last november) with the 40W heater (red cable and below 4 Ohm resistance, including wiring).
worked flawless ever since...

If you don't mind ignoring the E3D warnings and pushing the fuse to it's limits, that's fine.

Dan at E3D:

both the 25w and 30w heater cartridges that we supply have no problems in maintaining any temperature you want to throw at it. The 40w heater cartridge will mean that the HotEnd will get to temperature much quicker but it will not effect the way that the cartridge maintains the temperature. 40w heater cartridges' also need a lot more supervision compared to 25w or 30w cartridges.

😈 about 1 amp more or less.... i don't care.

➡ at the rambo, with it's "car-fuses" it shouldn't be any problem. it would be more severe if we would use a ramps with its boiling ptc polyfuses.

i'm more concerned about the current the heated bed requires, which really needs supervision.
at my "spareparts to 2nd printer project", i use a genuine MK42 heatbed and a ramps 1.4.... and already managed to melt down the power supply connector  because it's only approved up to 12 amp and the heatbed requires 15 (so i had to replace it with terminals that use screws).
