PSU started making a humming noise - I am worried!

Yesterday I disassembled and replaced my hotend with a new one from Prusa.
This evening I noticed that the PSU started making a low humming noise that I am pretty sure was not there before.

Needless to say I am worried it might catch fire or something.
If I press the reset button on the LCD controller the noise stops for a bit and then it comes back - so it's influenced by the load I guess.
Here's a video, not sure if you can hear it:

OK, I could be wrong but I think it's actually the Z-motors.
I rotated the Z-axis by hand yesterday a few times during disassembly and I might have upset something inside the motors.
Has anyone encountered this?

Hi Christian,

it is possible that the Z motors are now out of sync... use the move axis option to move the z axis to the top. it is likely that one side will get to the top, before the other,
there is insufficient power in the motors to do any damage if the Zaxis bearing blocks come into contact with the top supports.

It is ok for the motors to rumble a bit as they lose steps.

both bearing assemblies should end up touching the top brackets. (this ensures that both sides of the assembly are the same height. )

once this is achieved, you should be able to start your next print. (it might be safer to switch the printer off until the screen goes blank and then switch it on again) before continuing to print....

there is a possibility that the printer will stop driving the z axis upwards before it touches the top brackets, if this happens, turn the printer off and on again, and the z axis should then be able to be moved further up...

regards joan

Hello Joan,

I did as you said, the noise changes slightly when the motors are at the top but it never goes away.
As far as printing goes the printer seems to be fully functional.
