printing engineering plastics
hi guys , newb here .
i'm planning to order the prusa and i wonder if its possible to print engineering plastics with it .
i want to print something thats stable at 110c .
anyone has experience with 3dxtech filamets like this one http://www.3dxtech.com/ultem-9085-3d-printing-filament/ ?
Re: printing engineering plastics
Hi Sergey,
A stock Mk2 won't go hot enough to extrude the PEI you linked to. They recommend 330-350 extruder temperatures, and the Mk2's limit is 300. According to E3D (the makers of the extruder hot-end/cold-end) swapping out the thermistor for a thermocouple will allow the extruder to go hotter, but that's unknown territory for me (anyone have any experience with it?)
I'd wonder about things like:
But there are other plastics with fairly good properties that print a bit cooler that might be an option. I don't have any experience with those, so I'll let others comment.

thanks for the reply .
i ordered prusa and hardened nozzle . will report back in a few months lol .
Re: printing engineering plastics
furthermore, i don't think that it's a good idea to print with pei at a pei-sheet !
maybe you can do it once.... and afterwards you need to replace the sheet of your printbed -> quite costly approach.
