Printfan cools heatbed

Hi!!

Today i wanted to print the fan-nozzle.stl in Petg, so i placed the model in the center of the Heatbed as usual in slic3r, sliced and started printing.

Went to make some tea and when i came back to check how things are progressing the printer had stopped with a error message saying Bed thermal runaway!

So i did a inspection on my MK2, checked cables, thermistor, did also a "self test" but everything was OK

Restarted the same print and while i was watching my printer i noticed that the Heatbed started to drop in temp as soon as
the Printfan went on at layer 3!! Paused the print and then the temp went up again but started to cool down as soon as the print was started
again.

Got my IR thermometer and measured the temp to around 80C right next to the part printed while it was close to 110C
in the corners. Printer had a reading of 83C.

Next i decided to place the same object close to a corner on the heatbed and print.
Now Temp was rock solid and i got a successful print!!

Is the printfan too powerful? anyway, now i know that if i want to print small objects in Petg where printfan is used its
BEST to place the object in a corner so printfan will not cool down the bed and result in a error message.

hmmm... I think Kimmo got the thermal runway problem with the heatbed, not with the nozzle (as discussed at your link Peter).

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

Yes it was the Heatbed, never had this happen to me before so i wanted people to know how to
get around this by moving small Petg prints from the center of the Heatbed to a corner instead.

Ive had this before too. Small prints that sit on the bed above the bed thermistor cools that spot of the bed too quickly. Just have the part print in a different area and it should solve those issues.
