odd sizzle noise from hot end
I've done about 1.5 KG of prints without any problems, but my latest print (a digital sundial) has the hot-end-extruder-etc making a very unusual noise.
It is a sizzle noise, fairly high frequency. Hard to explain, but it reminds me of if you run your fingernail across the tines of a stiff hair comb ... so initially I thought it was the nosel rubbing across the top layer of the print.
noise seems to be more consistent, loud while doing the y axis, but hard to tell with the current print.
btw, my print quality still looks great!
I've read that humidity can cause popping and bubbling. I'm not getting any of that, and my house is well airconditioned ... so humidity is consistent, and I do try to keep my filament under wraps.
Separate question, what causes the "techno" sounding music-tones to come from the stepper motors. Have always had that. certain prints tend to have this louder than others. Are there ways to reduce those sounds, or does it represent a malfunction?

It sounds like it could be the stepper motor for the feeder that is making the sounds when plastic is extruded. It could be the springs for the tension of the filament that is too loose or hard - try varying the spring tension screws. Or maybe it is the stepper motor that is making the sounds... Try out to isolate the problem.
