New MK2 kit or fully assembled?!

Hi all, new here and I am thinking on getting a MK2, I have 2 Flashforge Creator Pro's, a QIDI Tech-1 and QIDI X-ONE and can't decide on the kit or fully assembled! Pro's and Con's on both. I like the fully assembled and tested idea but how much will shipping to the U.S. maybe throw it off on adjustments?
I like the kit as cheaper and faster ship but can I get it dialed in as good as an assembled one?

Would love to hear any thoughts. Also any opinions on performance/print quality vs. the printers I have!

Yes you can. In fact you can get it "dialled in" better than a pre-built one according the the experiences of some users on this forum.

Biggest advantage of a kit is that you lean exactly how to put it together which makes troubleshooting significantly easier.

Thanks Peter,

I have a lot of reading to do here on the forum but i am leaning heavily toward the kit to mainly get it quicker!! Good point on the assembly. I have done a lot of work on my current printers and it does help in understanding things when a print goes bad!

Re: New MK2 kit or fully assembled?!

I got the fully assembled version of the printer. I am now regretting it because I did not get any tools with the printer to maintain it. I vote you get the kit so you get all the tools you need.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Hi,

my personnal opinion: If you feel you can build it, then get the kit, you will learn way more how the printer is working, and how to do regular maintenances if you build it yourself.

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Hummm

That was not a great idea. The kit has a 2 week lead time. The upgrade is not shipping until late November and with all the orders probably placed already, you could now be looking at next year.

If you ordered together, they will ship together, so you could be in for a long wait...

You may want to talk to support about your order to see if they will ship the printer ASAP. If you do, do it weekdays, during the day.

I agree that by building the KIT you get much more better understanding how printer works and how to eventually fix some of the problems but on other hand you have no support from Prusa. If you are in trouble the only source of help is this forum, heldesk will not talk to you and will direct you to the forum.

Not true. Theoretically that is the case. However "Live Chat" do try to assist in many instances, but if they know the solution is on the forum, they will direct you here.

Re: New MK2 kit or fully assembled?!

Regret to say having different experience. Indeed "Live chat" is very supportive to resolve my issues with the order.
However when I asked for help with my MK2 KIT calibration/adhesion issues the only help I got was "look for help on forum".
In case they know there is resolution on the forum I would expect they could at least give me a link rather leave me digging through the forum.
That is because I bought the KIT.

Sorry to hear. Live chat has been very good to me. I do know that Josef is experiencing huge growing pains which is good for him and eventually us, but it may suck in the meantime.

Are you still having issues? Anything we can help with?

Re: New MK2 kit or fully assembled?!

I am good with the kit. I really wanted to build one. My other 4 printers required very little assembly!!
I am sure support will do what they can, they certainly don't want to start getting a bad rap for not supporting a new purchase.
I am also confident that in my short time here I can tell there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and the willingness to help.

I hope to be able to one day contribute more than I ask! In the meantime I am excited to get going ... now we wait!
