MK2S crashing and preheating bed problems

Hi guys,

I've been having trouble free printing with my MK2S for about 9 months, but everything has started going wrong today.

First problem i had was tha the bed temperature wasn't registering any more than 22 degrees. I found out this was because the temperature sensor was hanging out the back of the bed no in contact with anything..... So i fliped it on its side and had a look. I could see what looked like aluminium tape covered in kaptop with a cavity in it the shape of the sensor. I thought to myself "I must have fallen out" however the cable seemed to be about 3 inches too short to reach where it looks like it came from.
I cut the cable ties that were holding the cable wrap on and both ends and fed a bit more sensor wire though to make it reach. Then i slid the temperature sensor back under the tape and pushed it down.

After this i successfully printed a few small prints with no problems. When i tried to do something larger everything started going strange.

I got a "Bed preheat error" on the screen when I tried to start a print. I thought the temperature sensor may have come dislodged again. However its still where it should be. Then I noticed that the whole thing seems to reboot every 2-3 minutes. I hear a faint *click* noise and it goes back to the first screen and forgets what its doing. Also the temperature on the bed sensor isnt working anymore.

I sounds like the sensor is dead to me. Does this match what other people have seen before? can a bad sensor cause the whole thing to freak out and reboot? Sometimes when it reboots the screen gets covered in random symboles for a about 10 seconds.

Any help would be appriciated, as I can't really do anything with it and don't know what to do now.

Thanks, Dan

Re: MK2S crashing and preheating bed problems

random reboots while heating might be a failing power supply. please inspect wiring from the powersupply to the rambo board. also check connectors are fully inserted and do not have burn marks.
