Live Adjust Z setting keeps increasing

I apologize if there is a good solution to this on the forums already, but my searches so far haven't come up with anything that works.

The problem I am having is that my live adjust setting seems to keep resetting itself after each print, while in the settings the actual offset number doesn't change. So, for example, if I do an xyz calibration, then tune in my live z to -0.350mm with a test print. The next print, it will act as if the live z were back to 0, but the setting says -0.350. So, then you tune it again, and go to -0.700. same thing. Between each print the Z level keeps going back to as if i had just finished an xyz calibration, though the settings don't acknowledge it.

I've had the printer since about last November, and this problem has happened intermittently since the beginning, but this just started happening every print out of the blue. I did update the firmware recently, but it didn't go wrong till after that. I have checked my connections on the end, though I suppose its possible there is a break somewhere along the length of the PINDA wire. That doesn't seem like the right answer though, because the probe IS working enough to do calibrations and start prints...

I read suggestions on the forum that heat affects probes and to try preheating at z+100, and to do the temperature calibrations, but that made no difference whatsoever. I have recalibrated and readjusted the probe repeatedly, and I don't know what else to try. I've seen this exact issue mentioned on the forums, but i've never seen another suggestion than the heat issue with the probe. But this isn't random inaccuracy, this is the exact same problem between every print, regardless of bed or ambient temperature.

I am running an I3 mk2s
Firmware 3.1.0
I typically print ABS filament, usually in a lack cabinet setup, but I tried taking the printer out and printing in open air, still same problem.

Re: Live Adjust Z setting keeps increasing

Hi

This happened to me a few weeks ago after a hot end clean out.

I ran the Calibrate > Calibrate XYZ which clears out the Z offset

Then I did the firmware calibrate > first layer cal.

After that, the live Z adjust started working OK.

Hope this works for you

Hmm, yeah, i don't think I've noticed or tried a firmware first layer calibration. I'll track that down and try it tonight! Thanks for responding! 😀

Well, knock on wood, that seems to have done the trick! Thanks so much for pointing that me in the right direction! It’s always the little things in 3D printing, lol...
