jammed extruder heater

Hi,

I have a tricky situation here, my extruder is blocked by a filament (PLA).
I can't unload the filament since the filament is ending at the edge of the nozzle.
I have done a full clean of the nozzle without success.

looking for help on this one

I may be missing the problem, but can you not heat it up and pull the filament out?

I can see its broken at the top of the white tube, but the whole tube comes out and can be replaced.

I don't have a Prusa yet, but have the same E3D hotend on my Printrbot, but either the white tube comes out witha pull.. or you need to push the black collar down to release it.

Either way, the white tube can come out and you should have a good 1" of filament to grab hold off.

I hope this helps, but if I am missing the point, please ignore me.

Jon

Unfortunately I have tried that, the tube doesn't come off and eventually I have managed to break the filament even further.
At that point I figured, if I rebuild the whole extruder I should be able to push through.... that didn't work either.

Ahhh.. I will have to defer to someone with more experience.. I have taken my E3D appart many times and I fail to see how it could completely jam..

If you heat it up, you should be able to remove the nozzle, heater block, and threaded shaft and the filament should just pass through

It sounds like the filament has melted into the plastic tube....

Fingers crossed that someone who knows more than me will tell you what to do... Sorry I can't help

It seems you have melted PLA in the heat break (which should not have melted stuff in it.)

An idea to try (BE CAREFUL WITH HOT EXTRUDERS):

Remove nozzle (may need to heat to do so.)
Heat to high PLA temp. Say 220.
Us a small hex key - or rod <1.75mm to push UP from where the nozzle was, to see if you can push the clog out.

Since you have no fan running on the heat fins, the heartbreak will get very hot too.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Hi,
I work with a electric guitar string. the thinest one. with that, I could clean my extruder.
Of course, always heat up your extruder first.

Thank you for all your suggestions.
so I managed to remove the white pipe (broke the push collar) and then managed to remove the filament which look intact.
now I am ordering a new pipe to re assemble the hot end.
